Baby Girl Born In Car On Side Of Busy Highway

A healthy baby girl is born in a car after a woman and her husband on their way to hospital have to pull over on a Florida road.

A woman has given birth to a healthy baby girl in a car on the side of a highway, Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue said.

The woman and her husband were on her way to the hospital when the baby decided it was time, according to CBS and other reports.

The Florida couple pulled over and the husband helped deliver the baby, the reports said.

"She walked him through it because she's a NICU nurse," paramedic David Porter told CBS.
"He caught the baby."

When the paramedics arrived, they cleaned the baby and wrapped her up before taking the family to hospital.

Both mum and baby are reported to be in a good condition.

"These are the better calls," said paramedic Rolando Busto.

"You deal with tragedy day in and day out - it's nice when you get a call like this."

The names of the parents have not been released to due to privacy reasons.
